My Roller Coaster Trip...

So I spent a week in Ohio riding rides, most of which where roller coasters. Ohio actually has a ton of world class coasters...who knew? In total, I rode 36 roller coasters I have never ridden on before. That is NOT a small number. Four of them I rode in Wisconsin, but the rest of them were all in Ohio. It was a tremendous experience that I hope to repeat some day in the near future. I rode the second tallest and fastest coaster, the first hyper coaster, the first giga coaster, the longest wooden roller coaster, the third oldest roller coaster in the world, the longest floorless roller coaster, and my first lay-down coaster. I hope to have some pics put up at my Flickr site soon. Here is the list:

Avalanch, Cyclops, Zeus, and Hades: Four nice wooden coasters in Wisconsin Dells. Rough, but fun.

At Cedar Point:

Raptor: A danglefoot coaster. Totally fun and exhilarating. A fast, intense ride.

Blue Streak: A 41 year old wooden coaster. A fun out and back ride.

Cedar Creek Mine Ride: A fairly boring and slow coaster designed mostly for kids.

Corkscrew: REALLY similar to ours here. Kind of rough, actually. Not very fun.

Disaster Transport: A "bobsled" coaster, where the car runs down a trail like a bobsled instead of being attached to a track. Pretty fun because it was unique.

Gemini: A side by side wooden structure/metal rail coaster. The racing was a bit off so it wasn't as fun as it could have been, but I still enjoyed it.

Iron Dragon: A coaster where the whole car hangs down and swings freely. Makes for some wild turns. Sort of exciting, but not as cool as Top Gun (see later).

Magnum XL-200: The first Hyper-Coaster. It is similar to Wild Thing here. Fun, but a little rough on the back.

Mantis: My first stand up coaster! You stand up through loops and barrel rools and everything. I REALLY liked this ride. It was a good time.

Maverick: Ohio's newest coaster, Maverick is a low to the ground rocket. It roars into twist, turns, inversions, and rapid changes of direction. Well worth the REALLY long wait.

Mean Streak: A hidden gem in the back of the park. One of the best wooden coasters I have ever ridden on. Fast, long, and fun.

Millennium Force: My favorite coaster on the trip. It is a giga coaster that drops you 310 feet at 92 miles an hour to start. hen it is a fast but lazy turned monster that lasts quite a long time. Breathtaking.

Top Thrill Dragster: This coaster launches you out at 120 mph over a 420 foot high bump then straight back down and to the station...all in 17seconds. A short ride that is TOTALLY worth every minute you wait. Wicked fun.

Wildcat: An old carnival coaster. Exactly like the old Wild Rails at Valley Fair.

Wicked Twister: Just like Steel Venom, but with a twist at both ends. Much more enjoyable than ours.

Woodstock Express: Claims to be the longest and fastest kid coaster. It is quite fun.

At Geauga Lake:

Beaverland Mine Ride: With a whopping 20 cars, this snake of a kiddie coaster is pretty fun.

Big Dipper: This is a wooden coaster built in 1925...yes, it is old. But it was a very exciting old ride!! A must for coaster enthusiasts. See the third oldest coaster in the world!!

Dominator: The world's longest floorless coaster. That means that your feet hang out over the track as it speeds along underneath you. Tremendous fun. I had to ride it twice in a row!!

Double Loop: a Corkscrew-esque coaster. Not very exciting.

Head Spin: A coaster that goes forward through a few loops...then drops you backwards through the same track. Sort of fun.

Raging Wolf Bobs: Another old, but really fun wooden coaster.

Thunderhawk: A suspended coaster like the Raptor. Not quite as fun, but still enjoyable.

Villian: A VERY fun wooden coaster. It has 12 drops! They are all pretty big! This thing was a monster. I liked it.

At King's Island:

Firehawk: A lay down coaster. A truly unique experience that was way more fun than I thought it would be. A must try.

The Italian Job: The cars looked like mini-coopers. It was fast and sort of fun. None of the effects worked like they were supposed to.

Face/Off: Like Head Spin, but it is a suspended coaster that you get to look at a rider across from you. I got the giggles watching my friends ride the ride. Good fun.

Flight of Fear: The world's first linear induction launch coaster. There is no shoulder harnesses, but you do loops. Super intense and very enjoyable.

The Beast: The world's longest wooden coaster. We rode this three times. Once, we rode it at night. Hands down the best coaster experience, ever. If you like coasters, you HAVE to ride this sucker. It is amazing.

The Racer: An old wooden coaster that has two tracks; one goes forward, the other faces backwards. Going backwards was a really cool experience.

Top Gun: Fast, intense, I really wanted "Danger Zone" to blare from speakers at me. It is very fun and had no line.

Vortex: The best looping coaster I have yet to ride. It goes upside-down 6 times and have a pretty awesome first hill to boot. A great ride.
